LSU enjoyed its three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off its road jerseys. They and the Vanderbilt Commodores will face off in an SEC battle at 3:30 PM ET on Saturday at Memorial Gym. Both teams enter the match supported by the victories they achieved in their previous matches.
It’s a little easier to win when your three-point shot is 24.1% better than your opponent’s, a fact LSU proved on Tuesday. They were slid by the Bulldogs 67-66. The win was just what LSU needed after an 87-67 drubbing in the previous game.
Jordan Wright was the most prominent offensive player in the match, as he scored 17 points, along with five rebounds and two steals.
Vanderbilt, meanwhile, scored its most points all season to pull off Tuesday’s win. They narrowly escaped with the win as the team rolled past the Razorbacks 85-82. The win was a breath of fresh air for Vanderbilt as it ended their three-game losing streak.
Several players had strong performances to lead Vanderbilt to victory, but perhaps none more so than Finn Allen Lubin, who recorded a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Another player who made a difference was Ezra Mangun, who scored 22 points.
The Tigers have been on a roll lately: They’ve won three of their last four games, providing a nice boost to their 15-13 record this season. As for the Commodores, their win ended an eight-game drought on the road and moved them 8-20 ahead.
LSU beat the Commodores 77-69 in their previous meeting in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for LSU since the team won’t have home court advantage this time around. We’ll see if a change in location makes a difference.
