The Nevada-based man was arrested in 2009, months after killing his sixth wife, Sharon Koss, in their home in what initially appeared to be a home invasion.

In 2009, police arrested Thomas Randolph for the 2008 murders of Sharon Coss and Michael Miller.

He reportedly hired Michael Miller to kill his wife Sharon. When Randolph and Sharon return from date night one evening, Miller shoots Sharon. Randolph then killed Miller and later told police he shot the masked man after finding his wife shot to death.

Prosecutors said Miller planned to kill his wife to claim the $300,000 insurance money.

At the first trial, Randolph was sentenced to death for the double murder. However, due to his age and court appeals, the case went to a retrial and he was finally sentenced to 60 years in prison in April 2024.

Throughout his trial, he claimed innocence and went on to blame the victim’s daughter, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.

Thomas Randolph was married six times and four of his wives died. The murder of his sixth wife coincided closely with the death of his second wife, Becky Gault.

After three years of marriage, Gault was found dead in their home with a bullet in her skull, and Randolph walked home with $500,000 from his life insurance policy.

His fourth wife, Frances Thomas, allegedly died of heart surgery in 2004, and his fifth wife, Leona Stapleton, died of cancer, as Randolph claimed.

The Sun reports that his third wife, Gayna Allman, believes he tried to kill her as well. While they were married, Randolph tried to shoot her and the bullet hit the kitchen wall.

Until his conviction, it was unclear whether he was actually a serial killer or just unlucky in love. And thus, he earned the title “The Black Widower”.
