Which reggae icon is going on his first US tour in over a decade?

On July 13-14, Buju Banton headlined two concerts — his first US shows in 13 years — at the UBS Arena in Belmont Park, NY.

The following day, the reggae and dancehall legend celebrated his 51st birthday and announced his first North American arena trek, which he dubbed ‘The Overcomer Tour’.

From August through November, Banton will perform with special guests on Fridays at major venues across the country, including Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Sunday, November 17.

And, as he’ll likely play hits and tracks from his 2023 album “Born for Greatness” throughout the show, be sure to expect the unexpected.

“My catalog is pretty extensive, so highlighting one or two songs would fool a lot of people and get in my face,” Banton shared in an interview with Billboard. “…I try to make the public a part of what I’m doing as much as I can. We try to poll each region to find out what’s popular. It is important. In modern times we have a lot of tools, back in the day we didn’t have them at our fingertips. I want to do more.”

Also, the “Hills and Valleys” singer plans to release a record that is “100% dancehall, hardcore roots reggae, some fi yuh skank on, fi de gal dem Brooke Wilde!” he rode

If this sounds like the show for you, tickets for Buju Banton are available as early as today.

Fans can purchase tickets for upcoming ‘The Overcomer’ shows from sites like Vivid Seats; Official on-sale Friday, July 19.

Vivid Seats is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value depending on demand.

They have a 100% buyer guarantee that says your transaction will be safe and secure and will be delivered before the event.

Buju Bantan New Song

On September 8, 2023, Banton dropped his 12th studio album, “Born for Greatness”.

Consisting of 17 tracks, the record showcases Banton’s famous, raspy vocals and drum-heavy, tropical sound.

If you haven’t had a chance to listen yet, we suggest starting with the rousing title track “Born for Greatness,” the synth-heavy “Coconut Wata (Sip)” and the sultry “Body Touching Body” featuring Victoria Monet.

Make sure to stay until the very end; That’s when Banton performed the album’s standout “Let My People Go,” a protest anthem that’s as catchy as it is powerful.

Buju Bantan is the special guest

At all shows, the three-time Grammy-nominated R&B singer-songwriter will join Friday Banton.

For those unfamiliar with the 24-year-old singer, give the heavy “Stand By Me,” the head-banging bop “Friday” and the soulful “When It Comes To You” a spin.

Thank us later.
