3 Reasons Why The Rock vs. Undertaker is better for WWE than Rock vs. Cody Rhodes

summary

  • The Undertaker interfered with Dwayne Johnson’s attempt to help his cousin Roman Reigns defeat Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 40.
  • So, perhaps booking The Rock vs. The Undertaker would be the best way forward for WWE.

Once The Rock pulled himself out of the WWE WrestleMania 40 main event, he introduced the world to his Ultimate Boss avatar. With this new character, Dwayne Johnson devoted all his efforts to making Cody Rhodes’ life hell.

The Rock also made his appearance in The Bloodline Rules match between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania Night 2. He thwarted John Cena’s threat, took out the “Mama Rhodes” weight belt and was ready to inflict pain on The American Nightmare. .

Just as The Rock hunted for a helpless Cody Rhodes, the gong hit the inside of the arena. The lights went out signaling the arrival of a certain Deadman. Once the lights returned, the Great One found himself in the vicinity The Undertaker. A huge choke slam followed, knocking The Rock out of the equation for good.

Taking to his Instagram, The People’s Champion accused The Phenom of being a constant party pooper throughout his career. Eager for payback, the Hollywood superstar said he would go after The Deadman at some point. Even though The Rock is currently targeting The American Nightmare, there is reason to be feuding with The Undertaker.

#1 The Undertaker has a storied history with The Rocks bloodline

The Undertaker fought Yokozuna in a casket match, threw Rikishi out of Hell in a Cell, clashed with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania, and faced off against Dwayne Johnson at the height of his popularity.

It’s fair to say that The Phenom has some serious issues with the whole Samoan dynasty. With his recent meddling in Bloodline’s business, Taker has reopened some forgotten wounds for the Hollywood icon. It was The Deadman’s unexpected involvement that ultimately cost The Tribal Chief his title shot, something that The Rock would not take too kindly to. A cinematic match between the two legends could be the best way to settle their scores.

#2. The Rock vs. Undertaker would be a more popular mainstream attraction

Although Cody Rhodes is a fairly popular name, he is nowhere near as celebrated as The Rock and Undertaker. The amount of mainstream buzz WWE generated with The Brahma Bull and The Deadman’s WrestleMania appearances suggests their drawing power hasn’t diminished one bit.

While The Rock vs. Cody Rhodes makes sense from a storyline perspective, fans won’t mind seeing the two Attitude Era legends butt heads one last time. Given the right time to build a good story, The Rock vs. Undertaker would be a great marquee match for WrestleMania 41.

#3. A proper farewell for Undertaker in front of the fans

The Phenom had an excellent retirement match against AJ Styles at WrestleMania 36. It was a cinematic boneyard match, with The Deadman burying The Phenomenal One to end his career on a high note. However, for a fan-favorite for three decades, it didn’t feel right to say goodbye to The Undertaker without fans.

The Rock could make up for that moment by fighting The Undertaker in a proper retirement match in front of the fans. Considering his high star power, The Great One would be the best option to help Taker ride off into the sunset. Most importantly, it would be the perfect tie-in of The Undertaker’s story with the Samoan bloodline.
