There are many reasons why fans are slowly turning their back on their favorite baby face. While some are disappointed for silly reasons, like Cody retaining his title, others have some valid criticisms of The Dashing One’s reign so far. In this article, see three reasons why Cody Rhodes is losing support from the WWE fanbase.

#1 Cody Rhodes’ obsession with The Bloodline

American Nightmare has been feuding with Roman Reigns’ Bloodline for nearly two years. Although their rivalry ranks among the greatest, it’s time for Rhodes to move past that feud.

Fans are excited to see Cody Rhodes engaged in a new rivalry as the WWE Champion. They are ready to see him butt heads with AJ Styles, Kevin Owens and Logan Paul and write a new chapter in his story.

However, Rhodes seems to be stuck only in the past. His constant references to The Bloodline make it difficult for viewers to enjoy his character. It almost seems like the former AEW EVP is more focused on the storyline playing out between him and The Rock than his duties as a champion.

If The American Nightmare refuses to part ways with The Bloodline storyline, its fan following may not last.

#2. Cody Rhodes’ promotion lacks interesting elements

Another aspect of Cody’s reign that has drawn criticism is his monotonous promotion as titleholder. In addition to his overused catchphrases, Rhodes’ recent promos are full of references to his finished story.

While he certainly deserves to enjoy his victory against the odds, Cody must realize that he is no longer the underdog he once was. Fans have already started turning on The American Nightmare for constantly featuring her father in her promotions.

His last three appearances were among the most boring segments of WWE television. Cody didn’t give a roadmap to his title reign, nor did he say anything scheming. Whose popularity is mainly due to its amazing character work, the recent promotions of The American Nightmare must have disappointed many people.

#3. Cody Rhodes’ downfall in AEW sparked similar doubts among WWE fans

Prior to his historic WWE return, Cody Rhodes was a prominent figure in All Elite Wrestling. The American Nightmare enjoyed much success in the first few months of the company’s launch, becoming a certified fan favorite.

However, things soon went south for Dusty Rhodes’ youngest son. Due to some questionable booking decisions, Cody lost his popularity as a baby face. A string of disappointing feuds followed, leading fans to tire of Rhodes’ heroic character.

They apparently resisted his babyface act, something Cody may soon face in WWE as well. Hardcore fans still reminisce about how disappointing Cody Rhodes was as a good guy in AEW. He was constantly being booked as a Superman, often burying other worthy talents to make himself look good.

Considering his recent performance, Rhodes may be on the verge of falling back into the same hole. If Rhodes doesn’t change the content of his character soon, WWE may be forced to cut his reign short.
