3 years after leaving Real Madrid for “lack of faith”, Zinedine Zidane may finally find his next managerial role

It looks like the former Real Madrid Coach and legendary French player Zinedine Zidane has found his next a*signment! There has been much speculation as to which team he might coach after leaving Real in 2021. From Manchester United to Chelsea, every major football club in the world has been linked with Zidane for the past three years. However, if some recent reports are to be believed, the former Juventus midfielder is going to Bayern Munich.

According to a recent report from Mundo Deportivo, “Zizou” is very close to joining the German club. However, the document was not signed as he reportedly sought “reinforcement” in the defensive line. The current coach, Thomas Tuchel, brought in Kim Min-jae in the 2023 transfer window to strengthen the defensive roster. He received further support from the club and Eric Dier signed from Tottenham On loan in January 2024.

But, there are rumors that Bayern will not turn the loan into a permanent move. On top of that, Alphonso Davies is also said to be eyeing a move away from the club after failing to reach an agreement to extend his contract. So Zidane will definitely need some defenders to wrest the Bundesliga title from Bayer Leverkusen next season. Bayern have failed to win the league for the first time in 11 seasons.

Thomas Tuchel has confirmed his departure from Bayern Munich

Thomas Tuchel was sacked by Chelsea in 2022 after a poor start to the season. However, he didn’t last long for the job as Bayern hired him to lead their team and replaced Julian Nagelsmann. Although the move was controversial, Munich managed to win the Bundesliga title that year. But, the 2022-23 UCL was there from the start after knocking Manchester City Munich out of Europe in the quarter-finals.

But, as it is early in his reign, Bayern give him time to improve. However, after missing out on the domestic league title, the German giants decided to end their partnership and announced that Tuchel would leave the club after the 2023–24 season. However, after his recent UCL success, where Bayern beat Arsenal in the quarter-finals, many wondered if he would stay at the club.

Tuchel recently opened up on the issue and added, “I have an agreement with the club to leave in June, it has been communicated and it stands”

So it looks like Tuchel is indeed leaving Bayern Munich. There was some chatter that the club might bring back Nagelsmann after the failed Tuchel test. However, the 36-year-old recently signed a contract extension with the German national team that has removed him from contention. Thus, this gives further credence to reports of Zinedine Zidane joining the club ahead of next season.

With his potential return on the horizon, let’s find out why Zinedine Zidane left Real Madrid in 2021 and went on hiatus. His coaching career began in 2014, when he took charge of the Real Madrid B team. However, he received a promotion in 2016 and took charge of the first team.

However, his second stint with the club did not end on a positive note.
