Boxing pros give their predictions for Ryan Garcia vs. Devin Haney

Devin Haney takes on Ryan Garcia in a non-title bout at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The boxing bout was scheduled to be Haney’s first WBC super lightweight title defense. However, since Garcia couldn’t make weight and was 3 pounds heavier, the title fight became a non-title match.

A lot of build up followed the announcement of this fight in February. Garcia’s antagonism almost led fans to believe the fight would not go ahead as scheduled because they were concerned for his mental health. Garcia’s posts on social media were alarming. His behavior leading up to the fight was not normal. However, the fight looks good to go and Garcia looks sharp in his training.

Let’s take a look at what the pros think about this highly anticipated fight. Haney or Garcia? Who will win according to the pro fighters?

The pros predicting a Devin Haney win over Ryan Garcia

Several former and current boxers have predicted a win for Haney against Garcia. George Groves, speaking to Betway, claimed, “I think Hany beats Garcia… They’re both good talents but Garcia has that sacrifice in him, and he’s all over the place on social media.”

The former WBA super-middleweight champion thinks Garcia is very confused. “I think Hani is working hard, but I don’t know how Garcia can be. Maybe it’s the curse of having a huge following on social media, it’s so confusing and you just have to live with it. Haney won.”

George Kambossos Jr., who has two losses against Haney, feels the same way. “His hatred [Ryan Garcia] There’s beautiful,” Kambosos told FightHype.com. “People are watching from the outside and saying, ‘What happened to this kid?’ And I think it’s affecting how good a fight is.

“What will happen in that fight? Devin would win that fight. Kambossos predicted.

WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson also predicted a Haney win. He took to X and wrote, “Tomorrow body shot stop…”

Mexican boxer Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz told the media, “I think Haney is going to win.”

Garcia (24-1) is not the favorite for this fight because many believe he is not in the right mental state for a big fight. But there are still some big names behind him.

Speaking to Boxing Scene, Luke Campbell said, “People are talking like he’s already lost the fight and he’s done—and screwed up… If Ryan Garcia brings his A-game, sometimes he can be too much for Devin.”
