Investigation into Matthew Perry’s death officially closed (police)

The inquest into Matthew Perry’s death has been officially closed nearly a month after a coroner announced the “Friends” star died from the “acute effects of ketamine.”

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to People on Tuesday that they will no longer be investigating Perry’s death.

The Los Angeles County medical examiner-coroner also said on its website that the case was “closed.”

The actor was found dead in his jacuzzi on October 28, 2023. He was 54 years old.

Authorities later confirmed that Perry had died before medical experts even arrived on scene.

In addition to ketamine, the coroner listed drowning, coronary heart disease and the effects of buprenorphine among other conditions contributing to his death. (Buprenorphine is a synthetic opioid used to treat addiction.)

The “Whole Nine Yards” star had received ketamine infusions to help treat his addiction issues, but the coroner noted that Perry’s last infusion took place more than a week before his death.
