Jamahal Hill turns to former opponent Alex Pereira for help ahead of UFC 300

UFC 300 is fast approaching and fan excitement is understandably at an all-time high. As the card stacks up from the first prelims, many eyes are on the night’s main event. As such, Jamhal Hill is leaving no stone unturned in his preparation for Alex Pereira.

Previously, it was revealed that ‘Sweet Dreams’ will fight Alex Pereira in the main event of UFC 300. Although the fight was originally scheduled for UFC 301 in Brazil, a lack of alternatives forced Dana White and co. 300 instead of doing it. Although it was initially far from the otherworldly main event that was promised, fans are still eager to see Pereira fight.

As such, despite the initial disappointment, fans were soon on board with the fight, considering what the rest of the event had in store. With that said, UFC 300 is set to break a lot of records, featuring 12 current and former champions and a lineup of amazing fights.

Jamahal Hill seeks Israel Adesanya’s advice ahead of UFC 300

With that said, eyes turned to the main event where Jamhal Hill looks to reclaim his title, this time from the disciple of the man he once defeated to win it. A matchup happened more than a year ago when Alex Pereira and Hill Glover traded glances after a win over Teixeira. Since then, a fight between the two has been proposed, yet seen as an unrealistic possibility.

Since then, Hill would go on to vacate the title due to injury, paving the way for ‘Putan’ to claim it after defeating Jiri Prochazka at UFC 295 late last year. Thus, the matchup is bound to happen as soon as Hill returns from injury. Despite moving it earlier, Jamal believes he has all the tools he needs to win the war. At the same time, he is open to taking notes from other great fighters as well.

Recently, Hill took to social media to reveal that he contacted Israel Adesanya before the fight. “Picking one of the greatest minds in sports history!” – Joddha wrote with a screenshot of her video call with Adesanya. To date, ‘The Last Stylebender’ is the only person to have defeated Pereira inside the UFC Octagon.

Jamhal Hill believes his fight against Alex Pereira was a ‘mismatch’

There is no lack of confidence from Jamhal Hill going into the fight. Following a similar path to Ilya Topuria, Hill is more a*sured than ever of his victory over the Brazilian champion. However, at the same time, Hill’s confidence hasn’t gone down too well with fans, who have called for him to be more humble.

In his response, Jamahal Hill pointed out the hypocrisy of fans for supporting Alex Pereira when he announced his intention to fight Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 300 and then UFC 301. Simply stating that he wanted to attempt such a feat earned Alex much praise. On the other hand, fans mocked the former champ that he could beat Pereira.

Speaking in a recent interview, Hill revealed why he was so confident of defeating Pereira:

YouTube video

“It’s really, really a mismatch, you know?” she said. “Can he catch me and knock me out? He’s been fighting for a long time. He’s got strikes. He’s got power. Yeah. It’s got a chance to catch and lose. But short of that, getting through something and catching me and just me. Putting away, he gets his a*s hooped every single way. Every single way. There’s only one way for him to win this fight. One way. Yeah.”

“He’s not going to – anyone who thinks he’s going to outrun me is out of their mind. There’s only one way for him to win this fight.”

All things considered, both Jamhal Hill and Perera have their own ways to win. At the same time, neither of them can afford to underestimate the other despite considering themselves superior in a particular sk**l. Considering what’s on the line, the fight would be a perfect way to build a truly epic card.
