Katy Perry suffers a wardrobe malfunction live on ‘American Idol’ as Luke Bryan tries to save the day

Katy Perry nearly bared it all live on TV Monday night when her 3D sculpted top broke midway through “American Idol,” but she kept her cool as crew members and fellow “Idol” judge Luke Bryan tried to come to the rescue.

“My shirt broke #idol,” the “Last Friday Night” singer, 39, captioned a playful Instagram Reel photo of herself wearing a Kate Barton silver skeleton crop top made of metal while cast members tried to repair it using various tools.

“I need to stay on top!” She said, leaning forward with a concerned expression as the team worked on her cropped crop top, which featured a halter neck and a silver shark design, with fins sticking out on either side of her body.

Perry — who is exiting the show after this season — joked, “This show is going to get more than it bargained for,” before Brian decided to step in and help.

“I got it!” The country music star said in the clip, holding up a pair of scissors and shouting, “I’m going in!” While trying to help close the shiny top…but it seems his efforts weren’t entirely successful.

The words “nvm” appeared on the screen before footage played of the “Teenage Dream” singer leaning forward and grabbing the metal top, but at least she handled the situation with humor.

Perry told contestant Roman Collins – who performed James Brown’s “It’s a Man’s Man’s World” – “That song cracked the top of my head! I think it’s a woman’s world.”

“Ratings, I love reviews!” Lionel Richie, who also serves as an “American Idol” judge, joked, to which Perry replied, “It’s a family show.”

The “Roar” singer ended up inadvertently channeling Bianca Sensori at the end of the reel, holding a white pillow in front of her chest to keep things family-friendly.

Perry’s Instagram followers had plenty to say about the wardrobe malfunction, like one person who wrote: “This isn’t a top, it’s a car bumper.”

“You know it’s dangerous when you get the power tools out 😂,” another joked, while a third commented: “Maybe try dressing appropriately instead of dressing like a tin man!?”

No matter who she turns to, this star’s look never fails to get people talking.
