Taylor Swift releases ‘Fortnight’ music video with Post Malone – featuring ‘Dead Poets Society’ stars Ethan Hawke and Josh Charles

It’s Friday “two weeks”!

Taylor Swift has officially released her first music video from her eleventh studio album, “The Tortured Poets Department.”

The 34-year-old musician released her new music on Friday night, with a second batch of songs at 2am, making it a surprise double album.

The track features Post Malone and is rumored to be about Matty Healy, with “Fortnight” meaning a two-week period. She briefly dated the singer in 1975 after splitting from Joe Alwyn six years later.

“I was supposed to be sent away but they forgot to come and get me / I was so addicted to alcohol that no one noticed my new beauty,” she sings.

She continues, “All this to say I hope you’re okay, but you’re the reason/And no one can be blamed here but what about your quiet betrayal.” “And for two weeks we were there/Running to you forever.”

The music video begins by showing multiple desks and the sound of typewriters clicking. In an all-white room, Swift — dressed in a garter and wearing a wedding gown reminiscent of a 2024 Grammys dress — lies on a bed without a mattress as it hangs from the ceiling.

The video also shows Swift and Malone wearing black while writing, embracing while surrounded by paper being blown into the air, and the “So Long, London” singer being tested in a lab by actors Ethan Hawke and Josh Charles.

Hawke and Charles co-starred in the 1989 film “Dead Poets Society,” an apparent reference to its album title.

The Grammy Award-winning artist revealed on April 18 that “Fortnight” will be her first single from the new album.

“I’ve been a huge fan of Post because of his writing, his musical experience, and those melodies he creates that stick in your head forever,” Swift wrote on Instagram at the time. “I saw this magic come to life firsthand as we worked together in two weeks.”

Here’s what to know about Taylor Swift’s new album, “The Tortured Poets Department”:

  • The 14-time Grammy Award winner released her long-awaited 11th studio album, “Tortured Poets Oath,” on Friday.
  • Swift sent her fans into a frenzy at 2am after revealing the record was a double album. Swift’s belated surprise hit, titled “The Anthology,” includes 15 additional songs, bringing the total to 31 songs.
  • Swift initially unveiled her 16-song album at midnight, including collaborations with Post Malone and Florence Welch on two tracks. There are also four bonus tracks, “The Manuscript”, “The Bolter”, “The Albatross” and “The Black Dog” that appear on the various vinyl editions of the album. The four tracks plus 11 new songs are included on “The Anthology”.
  • A poem about heartbreak that served as an introduction to the album was written by Fleetwood Mac alum Stevie Nicks.
  • There are many celebrity names sprinkled throughout the album’s lyrics, and the mention of singer Charlie Puth surprised some Swifties.
  • While some of Swift’s exes haven’t spared “TTPD,” the 34-year-old singer appears to reference her current beau Travis Kelce in the new album’s song “The Alchemy” in an endearing way.
  • As for her exes, The 1975 singer Matty Healy is said to be referenced on the powerful 31-song record. In fact, Hailey – who, prior to their summer split, had a rekindled romance with the pop star following her split from British actor Joe Alwyn after six years – appears to be the subject of a vicious “youngest man who ever lived” takedown. However, other fans may speculate that the phrase “sparkling summer” is about Alwyn. There are also hints that “I Can Fix It (I Really Can’t)” — gotta love that title — might be about the 35-year-old Hailey.
  • As for Alwyn, Swift dropped hints at their ill-fated 6-year romance for a good — or, for him, not so good — portion of the album. Check out the 10 Alwyn-related references we spotted.

Last year, Malone revealed that the pair had recently hung out during an interview with Howard Stern.

“I recently had the opportunity to hang out with her and she truly is one of the kindest, most thoughtful, and — hell. holy — songwriters, amazing. It’s absolutely amazing,” he said at the time.

And in February, she — along with millions of others — watched Malone perform “America the Beautiful” before the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers faced off in Super Bowl 58 in Las Vegas. Swift’s friend, Chiefs’ Travis Kelce, would go on to win the championship.

The “Tormented Poets Section” includes 31 pa*sages in total, and – according to Swifties – includes numerous Easter eggs about Alwyn, Healy, John Mayer, and more.
