Wendy Williams’ former DJ claims talk show staff didn’t know ‘the extent’ of host’s illness – years after saying they were too ‘scared’ to speak out

Former DJ Wendy Williams has claimed that staff at her talk show did not know the “extent” of her illness.

“I don’t think anyone knew exactly how bad it was going to get,” DJ Boof said on “TMZ Live” Monday. “I felt like people knew there was something going on with her, but they didn’t really know.

“I knew it because I was around him,” he continued. “It’s sad to see something like this happen to her. She needs help.”

Pugh, 39, said he last spoke with Williams about a month ago and concluded that the team managing the court-ordered conservatorship “did not allow it.” [her family] You know exactly what’s going on.”

“I think, if you ask me, I think Florida would be a better place for her, because that’s where her family is and she needs 24-hour care,” he said.

Poff also said that the last time he saw Williams, 59, in person, she was “100 percent great.”

Boof’s comments are a complete 180 from four years ago, when he claimed online that the talk show staff were too “scared” to talk about Williams’ issues, which is why he ultimately left “The Wendy Williams Show.”

Williams’ team announced last week that the popular talk show host had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia.

Her son Kevin Hunter Jr. was revealed in the Lifetime documentary “Where’s Wendy Williams?” The neurodegenerative cases were caused by her years of alcohol abuse.

Following news of her diagnosis, Williams issued a statement to her loyal fans requesting a time and location.

“The messages shared with me touched me and reminded me of the power of unity and the need for compa*sion,” she said.

The media personality said she needs “personal space and peace to thrive,” while emphasizing that she is “deeply” grateful for fans’ “positivity and encouragement.”
