Sean Climaco is ready to make a statement in his ONE Championship debut

Sean Climaco is eager to show the world that he is an exciting addition to the talent-rich flyweight Muay Thai division when he faces Josue Cruz at ONE Fight Night 22. But it almost wasn’t to be, as a torn ACL suffered in 2022 threatened to derail the rising Muay Thai star’s career.

“The biggest hurdle I overcame was coming back from tearing my ACL. When that happened, I really didn’t know where my career would go,” she said. “Fortunately, I had this opportunity to compete at Road Two One. It started right around the time I was ready to fight again after rehabbing my knee.”

“I won the Road to One tournament for the United States and now I’m at One, something I haven’t seen since I tore up my knee. I thought I was done.”

Climaco seems tailor-made for style A championship. The 29-year-old likes to be aggressive and finish fights, which is a hallmark of one’s event. The promotion boasts a 70 percent finish rate across all branches, and Climaco plans to join that majority.

“Fans should expect technical violence. I have knockout power with both hands and hard kicks.” she said. “I have an aggressive and exciting fighting style. I am ready to showcase it for the fans at Lumpini Boxing Stadium and for those watching on Amazon around the world.”

“I’m really excited to test myself against the best in the world. I’m just trying to get my feet wet and show the world who Sean ‘The One’ Climaco is.”

Cruz, for his part, will be desperate to get the judges out of the equation. “Tujo” himself is hoping to get off the mark after his debut loss at the hands of former one flyweight Muay Thai world title challenger Walter Goncalves.
